COVID-19 guidance for travel nurses and allied health travelers

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, travelers have been at the front lines, contending with rapidly shifting policies and regulations surrounding COVID-19 patient care. Since then, a lot has changed for travel nurses and allied health travelers. While there are fewer COVID-19 patients in hospitals today, travel nurses and travel allied health professionals should stay informed on the latest COVID-19 vaccine requirements and policies mandated at the federal and state levels.

Common questions travelers have about COVID-19

There’s been a confirmed case of COVID-19 at my facility and I am concerned. Who should I speak to?

Continue to take clinical direction from the facility and speak directly to your clinical manager about your concerns. If you need further help, reach out to your Nomad Navigator so we can get your concerns addressed.

What happens if I’m required to quarantine by the facility because of a potential exposure to COVID-19?

Nomad follows state-specific regulations for COVID-19 pay and accrual of sick time. If you have any accrued sick time, that can be used towards any pay period where you need to call out sick due to COVID-19 or other illnesses. Please reach out to your Nomad Navigator directly if you are quarantining due to COVID-19 so they can assist with the next steps. After five days of quarantine, the facility will determine your eligibility to continue your travel assignment. You'll communicate closely with your Nomad Navigator throughout your quarantine period. They'll collaborate with the facility to get you back to work when you feel better.
